Something about having lots of kids and family around causes Vickie to come out of her shell somewhat.
Vickie attended the yearly Christmas eve family get-together at her childhood home.
All went as well as could be expected.

Several weeks ago Vickie broke a front tooth while eating a hamburger. Because of her behavior problems Dental visits are a problem.
Today Vickie had an appointment with a dental office that specializes in "sleep dentistry". The patient is given IV sedation before the work is performed.
Vickie will have the badly deteriorated tooth removed as soon as her Dr and the dentist consult on her condition.
Vickie was cooperative during the initial visit.

A planned procedure to replace Vickie's feeding tube didn't go quite as proposed. The Dr.was unable to replace the defective tube with an identical one. A less efficient, temporary replacement was used instead.
Vickie was cooperative and alert, recognizing some of the staff from when she was an employee at MT.H.MC.

Vickie spent Friday afternoon in the MHMC emergency department. Her caregiver suspected the ongoing UTI had suddenly became worse.
Vickie was given a powerful antibiotic intravenously.
She returned to her residence in the evening. She will take another antibiotic for 10 days.
Vickie handled the hospital visit well. The Dr. that treated Vickie remembered her from when she worked at the hospital years ago.

Today marks five years since Vickie was stricken with her life changing injury.
Vickie's condition has changed little in the last several years. She has had several bone fractures of her left arm and leg that were related to the total paralysis of her left side.
The ongoing infections seem to be under control with medication, most of the time.
Vickie's mental abilities are still limited and are not expected to improve. She experiences psychosis episodes regularly in which she is not responsive to others in the room.
She will remain in Foster care, where all of her needs are meet as long as possible. The personal attention she receives there is preferable to the larger professional care facilities.

Vickie had a routine checkup with her regular Dr. this afternoon. Some medication dosages will have minor changes. Her BP was 120/80, can't get much better than that.
During the ride back to her residence Vickie had some unusual lucid moments. She asked how old she was. When she was informed she was 60 years old, she responded "I thought I was 18". She asked what had happened to her. The brief explanation along with the rest of the conversation were soon forgotten and the situation returned to what is now, normal .
