Today Vickie reversed course, having a relatively early breakfast and later eating lunch. She turned down a home cooked dinner provided by a sister this evening.

Vickie’s condition and behavior continues to evolve. She now sleeps late in the morning, refusing to eat before noon and then making up for it much later in the day.

A sister brought Vickie to her house this evening and provided Chinese food. Vickie couldn’t eat much at the time preferring to talk constantly. Later in the evening after returning home, she relaxed and was able to finish eating her meal.

Later in the day she usually has a good appetite. A sister brought dinner this afternoon and Vickie cleaned her plate and requested more.

Today is a bittersweet anniversary. Two years ago today Vickie was stricken with the first of the devastating injuries to her brain. Although she has not recovered as much as we hoped she would, she is still making small increments of progress. Sometimes the improvements are so subtle we don’t notice until we take a look back and compare how things were before.

Vickie’s neurosurgeon, after reviewing the results from the scan performed a week ago, determined that there was no abnormality present as far a her shunt was concerned.
Vickie visited at a sister’s home this afternoon and was able to eat a fresh Salmon dinner.

After being informed of Vickie’s regression, her original neurosurgeon decided she should have another scan to insure the new shunt was functioning properly. It has been six months since he checked it last.

This morning Friends and relatives were able to visit briefly with Vickie while attending the service for her sister.

A tragedy has occurred in Vickie's family. Vickie's next older sister was hospitalized last week for serious medical problems. Over the weekend her condition rapidly deteriorated. Life support was removed Sunday evening. She passed away early Monday morning.

Vickie’s Dr. was concerned that she may have kidney problems associated with the ongoing infection. The test administered this morning alleviated those fears.
However, Vickie will need additional help daily to drain her bladder, the probable source of the infection.

A medical exam this afternoon showed what might be responsible for the recurring infection Vickie has been plagued with for many months. Tomorrow a more comprehensive and invasive exam will try to pinpoint the problem.
